Managing Document Copies

A document copy is a dependent object, which represents the existence of a real-world managed document in a specific media and location. The document copy object may be described and controlled by attributes such as the copy number, status of the copy, etc. A singular document object may have many document copies in different media, i.e. electronic file, paper and microfiche. Real world managed document objects are stored, distributed and used as document copies.

Note: To create a document copy, you must have the New Object Instances > Document Copy permission.
Note: You can also initiate the creation of copies directly from the parent document. See Adding / Associating Other Objects to a Document .
